Roddenberry was dating both Uhura & Chapel simultaneously. H ended up marrying Chapel in a Buddhist ceremony in Japan between TOG & Next Gen. I got the impression she was quite the woo woo. I found Next Gen to be very different from TOS, and there are at least 2 episodes where Kirk & Spock would have blown up a computer banks, lectured the leaders about individual rights, & given a green chick a ride to the nearest star base. Picard just tells the 50 year old guy to go to his home planet & accept ritual suicide, and the female throwback alien to accept ritual/surgical de-sexing to conform to her nonbinary society. smh
