She was a jealous, possessive, greedy, grasping, sexually demanding, temperamental, dishonest woman, who shoplifted expensive dresses and stole $7000 from her best friend, who had taken her in and given her a job in her beauty salon. She was constantly punching her husband and starting fights, which the police attended half a dozen times, and four years after she cut off his penis she was charged with assaulting her mother: "Neighbours told the police that Ms. Gallo's mother, Elvia Gallo, 49, was watching television on Friday when her daughter started punching her. Her mother suffered minor injuries, including an abrasion around the eyes, and scratches." Lorena Bobbitt was the classic female DV perpetrator - to all outward appearances a paragon of meekness and virtue, but behind closed doors with her intimate partner, a volatile combative she-devil! As an ex-Marine he could hardly be expected to submit to her punches, but his only response was to restrain her forcefully, and perhaps roughly at times, and enter into verbal altercation with her, no doubt inflamed by alcohol at times. Clearly he never retaliated, because she was never seriously injured. Don't forget, we're talking about a bouncer and former U.S. Marine, versus a petite woman half his size. Consider the level of self-restraint exercised there, even under the influence of alcohol. That is NOT reciprocal violence.
The fact that she's managed to parlay her own domestic abusiveness into a career in DV advocacy is ironic in the extreme, but testament to her adaptability and talent for manipulating those around her.
